Description
"Returning to the Garden and Living in the Fields" PPT Courseware 6
About the Author:
Tao Yuanming: a famous poet in the Eastern Jin Dynasty. A man named Qian, whose courtesy name was Yuanliang, was known as Mr. Jingjie in the world, and also called himself Mr. Wuliu. He was a native of Chaisang, Xunyang (now Jiujiang, Jiangxi).
The famous hermit was dissatisfied with the darkness of the officialdom and lived in seclusion in the countryside.
First reading text
Read a kind of embarrassment and hardship
Who will talk about the embarrassment and hardship in poetry?
Embarrassing: Resigning from office to farm, but "the grass is full of beans and the bean sprouts are few"
Hardship: I wake up in the morning to clean up the wasteland and return home with a hoe in the moonlight
Embarrassing: The road is narrow, the grass and trees are long, and the evening dew stains my clothes
Read the text again
The poet resigned and went into seclusion, but what he encountered was the embarrassment and hardship of life. Does the poet complain or regret about this situation? Ask the students to read the poem again and read out the two turning points and one persistence in the poem.
Turning point 1: Despite the embarrassment of "the grass is rich and the bean sprouts are sparse", I still go out early and come back late, obsessed with the countryside.
Turning point two: "The evening dew stains my clothes" - "It's not enough to cherish the stains on my clothes"
Persistence: As long as the wish is fulfilled (how to understand "wish"?)
"Wish": Live according to one's own wishes, and do not want to lose oneself in the dirty real world. Even being a farmer is better than "bowing down for five buckets of rice" in the officialdom.
Third reading text
When the poet faced the embarrassment and hardships of life, he did not complain or regret, but showed his comfort and joy after returning to the countryside. This kind of joy and comfort is presented in the form of a beautiful picture scroll in the poem. Ask the students to read the text three times and read out a picture and a joy!
A picture: Returning late from work - one person, one month, one road, one hoe
Ask the students to analyze the meaning of the picture and speak in the sentence pattern of "There is no... there is...".
There is no hardship of labor, but the comfort of returning home late under the moonlight. There is no darkness of officialdom, but the poetry of labor. There is no official intrigue, but the joy of labor.
Fourth reading text
Read a kind of simplicity and a kind of personality
Simplicity (writing style): The language is plain and natural, and the plain spoken language and the mellow poetry are harmoniously unified. For example, "Growing beans at the foot of the south mountain" and "The evening dew touches my clothes" are as simple as speaking casually.
Personality: Use the sentence pattern "This poem expresses..." to summarize the poet's personality.
This poem expresses the poet's dislike of official life, his love for pastoral life, and his comfort and pleasure in retreating to the countryside through the description of joy in pastoral labor.
