1. Passive voice
When the subject is the performer of the action, the form of the predicate is active voice; when the subject is the recipient of the action, the predicate should be in passive voice.
e.g. Many people speak English.

English is spoken by many people.
(Passive voice, the subject of the sentence English is the recipient of the action speak)
2. The composition of passive voice
The passive voice is composed of "the auxiliary verb be + the past participle of the transitive verb". Like the active voice, the passive voice also changes in tense, person and number, and its changing rules are exactly the same as when be is used as a linking verb.
