Law of Multiplication PPT, Part 2: Analysis of Examples

Example 1. Use a calculator to calculate and fill in the appropriate symbols in the circles.

The products of the two multiplication expressions on the left and right are the same.

When two factors are multiplied, the positions of the factors are swapped and the product remains unchanged.

This is called the commutative law of multiplication.

If a represents one factor and b represents another factor, the commutative law of multiplication can be written as:

a×b=b×a

Example 2. How many boxes of drinks are there in total?

Viewed from the front, there are 4 floors, each floor has (6×5) boxes, a total of (6×5)×4…

(6×5)×4=120 (box)

You can also see it from the front like this, there are 6 rows, each row has (5×4) boxes, a total of 6×(5×4)...

6×(5×4)=120(box)

The calculation methods are different, but the results are the same.

(6×5)×4=6×(5×4)
