About the Author:

Ma Zhiyuan, also known as Qianli and Dongli, was a native of Dadu in the Yuan Dynasty. He was a famous writer of Zaju and Sanqu. Together with Guan Hanqing, Bai Pu and Zheng Guangzu, he was known as the "Four Great Masters of Yuan Opera", and he was known as the "No. 1 Qu Yuan" in the literary field. There are fifteen kinds of Zaju, including "Autumn in the Han Palace", "Recommended Blessing Tablet", "Tears of Green Shirt", etc., and there is a volume of Sanqu "Dongli Yuefu". Because of this little order, he was also called the "ancestor of Qiu Si".

Ma Zhiyuan, a famous Zaju and Sanqu writer in the Yuan Dynasty. He was once keen on fame, but failed to achieve it. He wandered for more than 20 years and became an official in his fifties. He couldn't stand the dark officialdom and retreated into seclusion. "Autumn Thoughts" is one of his works during his wandering journey.
