1. Hong Xiuquan and the Jintian Uprising

1. Causes of outbreak:

(1) The failure of the Opium War further deepened the Qing government’s governance crisis;

(2) As exploitation intensifies, the contradiction between the ruling class and the working people becomes increasingly acute;

(3) The social crisis caused by the invasion of China by foreign powers deepened.

2. Capital Tianjing

1. Capital: In March 1853, Nanjing was captured and renamed Tianjing as the capital.

2. Promulgation of the "Chinese Land Acre System"

(1) Content: Distribute land equally according to population and age, regardless of gender;

(2) Evaluation: Through this plan, the Tianping Heavenly Kingdom wants to establish an ideal society where "there are fields to cultivate together, people to eat together, clothes to wear, money to use, uneven everywhere, and no one is not fed and warm". (3) Impact: The Taiping Army suffered heavy losses and morale was seriously affected. The Tianping Heavenly Kingdom turned from prosperity to decline.

2. Rescue measures

(1) Confess Hongren as King Qian and prime minister of government affairs;

3. Li Xiucheng led his army to attack Shanghai

In the summer of 1860, Taiping Army general Li Xiucheng led his army to attack Shanghai. The Shanghai officials colluded with the Western invaders and hired the American Wall to organize the "Foreign Gun Team" to fight against the Taiping Army. The Taiping Army defeated the foreign gun troops in Qingpu near Shanghai. In September 1862, during the Battle of Cixi, Hua'er was killed by the Taiping Army.
