Characteristics of Zhaozhou Bridge

The "open-shoulder" bridge design conforms to mechanical principles. The architecture of Zhaozhou Bridge is scientific in structure, strong and durable, and flood-proof and saves materials.

The bridge span is large and the arc is flat, which can not only increase the drainage function, but also make the slope of the bridge deck gentle, which facilitates the traffic of vehicles and horses, and also saves labor and materials.

The size of the bridge matches the size of the arches, with clear outlines and soft lines. The railings, railings and columns on both sides are decorated with carvings.

The status and value of Zhaozhou Bridge

Zhaozhou Bridge is the oldest existing stone arch bridge in the world, more than 700 years older than Europe. Its architectural structure (open-shoulder style) was the most advanced stone arch bridge structure at that time.

Engraved illustrations are fine works of stone carving art in the Sui Dynasty, showing the superb skills of ancient Chinese craftsmen and having high artistic value.

Zhaozhou Bridge is a masterpiece that combines a high degree of science and perfect artistry.

medicine

Sun Simiao (581-682), aged 101, was a famous medical scientist during the Sui and Tang Dynasties. Wrote the outstanding medical work "Thousands of Gold Prescriptions".

Due to his significant contributions to traditional Chinese medicine, later generations honored him as the "King of Medicine".

The glorious poetry world

Poetry is a literary form that has existed in our country for a long time. By the Tang Dynasty, the development of poetry had reached a golden age of high maturity. In less than three hundred years of the Tang Dynasty, nearly 50,000 poems have survived, covering a wide range of themes and genres. Famous poets emerged in large numbers and masterpieces were handed down from generation to generation. It can be said that poems are flowing freely and stars are shining brightly.

Among them, the achievements of Li Bai, Du Fu and Bai Juyi have reached the peak of poetry creation.

Li Bai

This is a portrait of Li Bai, the great romantic poet of the Tang Dynasty.

Li Bai, also known as Taibai, also known as Qinglian layman. At the age of 24, he left his hometown and traveled in the southeast and central plains. In 742, he was recommended to Chang'an to write poems for Emperor Xuanzong of Tang Dynasty. Later, Li Bai was excluded by the eunuchs because he was unwilling to "break his eyebrows and bend his waist to serve the powerful", so he left Chang'an and wandered around the world. While traveling around, Li Bai composed many poems praising the mountains and rivers of his motherland with his heroic and unrestrained enthusiasm, inspiring people's love for the motherland.

Du Fu

Du Fu, courtesy name Zimei. He is the greatest realist poet in the Tang Dynasty. Du Fu lived in the era of Tang Dynasty's prosperity and decline. He saw the darkness of the government and realized the pain of people's lives. After the Anshi Rebellion broke out and Chang'an fell, Du Fu wrote a touching poem with strong patriotism and extreme grief: "The country is broken, the mountains and rivers are there, the city is springy and the vegetation is deep." During the Anshi Rebellion, Du Fu also wrote many famous works such as "Three Officials" and "Three Farewells" that reflected the suffering of the people during the war. In the winter of 770, Du Fu, who was poor and ill, stopped singing forever on a small boat on the Xiang River at the age of 59.

Bai Juyi

Bai Juyi, whose courtesy name is Letian. An outstanding realist poet in the Tang Dynasty. When he was young, his family was poor, and he encountered chaos in the feudal towns. In order to escape the war, Bai Juyi lived a homeless life for five or six years, which gave him a deeper understanding of the sufferings of the people. Later, he served as an admonisher in the imperial court and once criticized the emperor's mistakes in person, so he was demoted to a local official.
