"Animal Carnival" PPT courseware

"Carnival of the Animals" is an orchestral suite written by the French composer Saint-Saëns on the theme of various animals. It has fourteen movements. The music uses the timbre, rhythm and dynamics of various instruments to show the composer's innocent childlike innocence.

Story introduction

The usually mysterious forest has a different atmosphere today. It turns out that today is the Animal Carnival, and every animal has to perform on stage. The Lion King appeared first, and he seemed to be announcing that the carnival was about to begin.

So animals came on stage one after another, including roosters and hens, wild donkeys, turtles, elephants, kangaroos, aquariums, long-eared people, cuckoos in the forest, large bird cages, even pianists, fossils, and elegant swans. Finally, the animals gathered together for a lively carnival, and the carnival came to a successful conclusion under the great ensemble.

1. Overture and March of the Lion King

It begins with a prelude of twin piano vibratos, followed by a majestic and solemn march, indicating the appearance of the lion; this king of beasts, marching majestically with majestic steps, leading the procession of animals from far to near. The chromatic phrase in the bass represents the roar of a lion.

2. Rooster and hen

This piece of gentle and humorous music is in sharp contrast to the previous section. On the piano accompaniment, the theme of the bass string instrument depicts the slow crawling of the turtle. This is a lively and fast cancan melody borrowed from the overture of "Heaven and Hell" by Offenbach, another French composer; in this piece, it is played slowly with a mocking realization technique.

14.Finale

This is the last lively and lively scene.
