"Under the Silver Moonlight" has always been conventionally designated as a Tatar folk song in Xinjiang. In fact, it is a Russian folk song. As early as 1949, when Wang Luobin, the "King of Western Singers", was serving as the literary and art section chief of the Xinjiang Military Region, he made many ethnic minority friends and often drank and sang together. Among them, a young Tatar singer sang a song. Wang Luobin wrote it down and adapted it, naming it "Under the Silver Moonlight" and signing it as a Tatar folk song. Later, Wang Luobin did some research and determined that the song should be a Russian folk song. When he wanted to correct it, the song had already been sung across the country. It didn't take long for Wang Luobin's fate to be involved in the political whirlpool, and he could no longer correct a small mistake. Until Wang Luobin's death, he finally changed the Tatar song back to a Russian folk song.
