Ohm's Law: The current in a conductor is directly proportional to the voltage across the conductor and inversely proportional to the resistance of the conductor.

(1) The units in the formula must be unified.

(2) Each physical quantity in the formula must correspond to the same circuit section.

Example 1

The headlights of a car are connected to both ends of the 12V power supply. The resistance of the filament is 30Ω. Find the current through the filament.

Solution: According to Ohm’s law

I=U/R=12V/30Ω=0.4A

Example 2

As shown in Figure 17.2-1, after the switch is closed, the voltmeter reads 6V and the ammeter reads 0.3A. Find the resistance of the resistor R.

Solution: According to Ohm’s law

R=U/I=6V/0.3A=20Ω

Example 3

The resistance of an iron is 0.1KΩ, and the current flowing through it during use is 2.1A. What is the voltage applied to the iron?

Solution: According to Ohm’s law

U=IR=2.1A×100Ω=210V

4. According to Ohm’s law formula I=U/R, R=U/I can be derived. Regarding this formula, the following statement is correct ( )

A. When the voltage across the conductor is zero, the resistance of the conductor is also zero.

B. The greater the voltage across the conductor, the greater the resistance of the conductor.

C. The greater the current in the conductor, the greater the resistance of the conductor.

D. The resistance of a conductor is the property of the conductor itself. Its size has nothing to do with the voltage at both ends of the conductor and the current in the conductor.
