Part One: Observe the changes in constellations

From spring to summer, what changes have occurred in the constellations?

Observe the changing positions of Orion and Leo.

From March to August, observations will be made once every month on the 10th at 8:00 pm.

Observation tips:

1. Match the month and day on the outer circle of the starry sky chart with the time on the inner circle. (March 10, 20:00)

2. Rotate the star chart below to better observe the position changes of the constellations.

3. Each observation is compared with the previous observation.

4. Compare the last observation with the first observation.

There is a bright star on the east "bank" of the Milky Way. There is a darker star on each side of this bright star. The three stars form a pole shape. This bright star is called Altair. Altair is located in the constellation Aquila.

On the western "bank" of the Milky Way, across the river from Altair, there is a particularly conspicuous bright star. Near this bright star there are four fainter stars forming a shuttle shape. This bright star is called Vega. Vega is located in the constellation Lyra.

There is a bright red star in Scorpio, which is like the heart of Scorpio. It is the famous Antares, also called Big Mars, and also known as the business star. At eight or nine o'clock in the summer evening, it is located not far from the horizon in the south.

Part Two: The Rotation of the Big Dipper

Throughout the year, the Big Dipper rotates counterclockwise around the North Star.

When the handle of the bucket points to the east, spring will come all over the world;

When the handle of the bucket points to the south, it is summer all over the world;

The handle of the bucket points to the west, and autumn is all over the world;

The handle of the bucket points north, and it is winter all over the world.
