Description
"Garbage Disposal" Environment and Us PPT Courseware 3
The dangers of garbage
One: Occupying a large amount of land. For example, the United States has launched a "garbage war" between the north and the south to landfill garbage; in my country, the garbage between the Third Ring Road and the Fourth Ring Road alone covers an area of more than 7,000 acres.
Two: Pollution of farmland. Garbage fertilizer causes soil to become slag, and slag soil loses 0.5-1 ton of water per acre per day compared with normal soil. There is a metallurgical plant in the Federal Republic of Germany. The plants produced in the nearby soil contain 80-200 times the lead of ordinary plants, and the annual lead content is 26-80 times.
Three: Pollution of groundwater. Industrial waste discharged from mines and steel plants contains many harmful substances, such as arsenic, mercury, lead, chromium, etc. These harmful substances will seep into the ground due to exposure to the sun and rain, thus polluting the groundwater.
Four: Pollution of the atmosphere. Some organic substances in industrial waste can produce odor through biological decomposition at a certain temperature, thus polluting the atmosphere.
Five: Spread disease. Domestic waste contains germs and parasites. If it is used directly as farm fertilizer, people may contract infectious diseases if they eat vegetables and fruits that have been fertilized with such fertilizer.
With the development of the economy and the improvement of people's lives, urban garbage has accumulated into mountains. Garbage disposal has become an urgent issue in the final improvement of the urban environment. This brings us to the issue of garbage recycling.
From harmful to harmless---harmless treatment of domestic waste
Waste incineration treatment
Sanitary landfill of garbage
Special treatment of waste batteries
Sanitary landfill of garbage
With the continuous development and improvement of waste treatment technology, our urban waste is transitioning from stacking to landfill, and landfill technology is gradually becoming more hygienic, economical and efficient. Ashes, bricks, ceramics and other substances contained in garbage, as well as various residues generated after garbage disposal, must be disposed of through landfill. Landfill must comply with sanitary landfill standards: the moisture content of the landfill is less than 20%-30%, the inorganic component is greater than 60%, and the density is greater than 0.5t/m3.
Special treatment of waste batteries
Our lives are inseparable from various batteries, but the environmental pollution caused by acid, alkali and other electrolytes and heavy metals in used batteries cannot be ignored. Whether they are disposable batteries or rechargeable batteries, if they contain mercury, cadmium, lead or sulfuric acid, they may pollute the environment.
Good practices:
Enterprises: Improve production processes and reduce harmful substances in dry batteries, such as developing mercury-free or low-mercury batteries.
Personal: Don’t litter and discard batteries everywhere, do a good job in recycling used batteries
From waste to resources---recycling domestic waste
The cost of processing garbage is high. The cost of processing 1 ton of garbage is equivalent to the selling price of 1g of gold. Our country's annual gold production is 180 tons, but it needs to consume an amount equivalent to the price of 190 tons of gold in garbage disposal every year. Therefore, if we reduce the generation of garbage, we can save money for the country; if we can make full use of the resources in the garbage, we will create wealth for the country.
