The connotation of green packaging

1. Implement packaging reduction (Reduce). Packaging should use the minimum amount under the condition that it meets the functions of protection, convenience, sales, etc.

2. Packaging should be easy to reuse (Reuse) or easy to recycle (Recycle). The purpose of reuse is achieved through measures such as producing recycled products, incineration to utilize heat energy, and composting to improve soil.

3. Packaging waste can be degraded (Degradable) without forming permanent garbage, thus achieving the purpose of improving the soil. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Degradable are the 3R1D principles recognized in the world today for the development of green packaging.

4. Packaging materials should be non-toxic and harmless to humans and organisms. Packaging materials should not contain toxic elements, halogens, heavy metals or the content should be controlled below relevant standards.

5. The entire life cycle of packaging products, from raw material collection, material processing, product manufacturing, product use, waste recycling, to final disposal, should not cause public harm to the human body and the environment.

Excessive packaging is divided into two categories, one is deceptive packaging and the other is luxury packaging (or exaggeratedly, it can be called "sky-high price packaging").

(1) There are too many empty spaces in the package. For example: Japan stipulates that the gap in a packaging container should not exceed 20% of the entire container in principle.

(2) The height and volume of the packaging and contents are too different. For example: Japan's "Outline for the Suitability of Product Gift Box Packaging" stipulates that the gap between the product and the inner wall of the packaging box must be kept below 5mm.

(3) Exaggerated packaging for no reason and not technically required. The packaging cost should be 10% to 15% of the product cost, which is more appropriate. If it exceeds, it will be suspected of excessive packaging.

To reduce packaging waste, I recommend
