Distribution of rare animals in China
Giant Panda: Also known as Cat Bear. mammal. It is obese and looks like a bear. It is about 1.5 meters long and about 66 centimeters high at the shoulder. The eyes, ears, front and rear limbs and shoulders are black, and the rest are white. It lives in bamboo forests in mountains between 2,000 and 4,000 meters high. It likes to eat bamboo and sometimes small animals. Good at climbing trees, lonely in nature, and does not live in groups. It is only produced in a few places in Sichuan, Shaanxi and Gansu in my country. It is a rare animal unique to my country and a national first-class protected animal.
Baiji dolphin: also known as Baiji dolphin. mammal. The body is 1.5 to 2.5 meters long, with a round head and a long mouth, about 30 centimeters. The back of the body is light blue-gray, the belly is white, and the fins are white. They live in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, Dongting Lake, and Qiantang River in my country. It is a specialty animal in my country and a national first-class protected animal.
Alligator: Reptile. It is more than 2 meters long and has six horizontal rows of horny scales on its back. The back is dark brown with yellow spots and stripes; the belly is gray with small yellow spots and horizontal stripes; the tail has gray and black rings. The forelimbs have five fingers and are not webbed; the hind limbs have four fingers and are webbed. They live in burrows at the bottom of ponds and swamps, feeding on fish, frogs, small birds and rats, and hibernate in their burrows in winter. Distributed in Anhui, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Jiangxi and other places. Unique to my country, it is a protected animal.
Distribution of rare plants in China
Baishanzu fir: There are only 3 remaining evergreen trees in the Pinaceae family, an endangered species, a national first-level protected plant, and an endemic species in China. Baishanzu fir is an ancient relict plant unique to my country and the only remaining fir plant in the southeastern coast of my country. In 1987, the International Commission for the Conservation of Species announced the Baishanzu fir as one of the 12 most seriously threatened endangered species in the world.
Camellia japonica: a small tree of the Theaceae family, is a precious and rare ornamental plant and germplasm resource in the world, and is one of the most precious ornamental plants in my country. Golden Camellia is one of the eight first-level protected plants in the country and has high ornamental, scientific research and development value.
Davidia involucrata: deciduous tree. It can grow to 20-25 meters tall and has broad ovate leaves with serrated edges. There are only two species of plants in one genus. They are similar except that one has hairy leaves and the other has smooth leaves. The flowers are strange and beautiful. They are relict plants left over from the Tertiary Period of the Cenozoic Era 10 million years ago. During the Quaternary Ice Age, Davidia involucrata became extinct in most areas. Only some areas in southern my country survived and became plants. The world’s “living fossil” today.
Protecting rare creatures is everyone’s responsibility
With environmental pollution and destruction, such as deforestation, vegetation destruction, indiscriminate hunting, indiscriminate logging, etc., biological species in the world are currently disappearing at a rate of one per hour. And once a species disappears, it will not regenerate. Disappearing species not only deprive humans of a natural resource, but also cause chain reactions through the biological chain, affecting the survival of other species.
