Where have we been and what kind of natural scenery have we seen? Can we tell whether the place we have visited is a mountain, a plain, or some other typical topography?

Choose your favorite place and introduce the scenery and topography there to your classmates.

Plateau: higher altitude, open ground or hilly terrain

Basin: Surrounded by mountains and plateaus, with lower terrain in the middle

Plain: low, broad, broad

Mountainous areas: towering peaks and rugged terrain

Hills: low altitude, round tops

Canyon: A valley with a steep slope that is deeper than wide.

Topographic maps use symbols and colors to represent the topography and landforms of the earth's surface. Generally, there are scale bars and legends on the map.

What do the different colors on the topographic map mean?

Different shades of blue can be used to indicate the depth of the seafloor;

The darker the green, the lower the terrain; the darker the tan, the higher the terrain;

Areas above the snow line are usually shown in white.
