1. Experimental purpose

Explore whether there is less salt after it is separated from the water.

2. Experimental preparation

Iron stand, asbestos net, alcohol lamp, beaker, glass rod, tweezers, measuring cylinder, water, salt, scale.

3. Experimental steps

Step 1: Use a graduated cylinder to measure 50 ml of water

Step 2: Use a scale to weigh 10 grams of table salt

Step 3: Pour the weighed salt into the measured water and stir continuously with a glass rod

Step 4: After the salt is dissolved, pour the solution into an evaporating dish, place it on an iron stand, heat it with an alcohol lamp, and stir it continuously with a glass rod until the salt precipitates from the water.

Step 5: After all the water has evaporated, remove the alcohol lamp and cover it with a lamp cap to extinguish the alcohol lamp.

After a few minutes, the salt began to precipitate.

I saw all the salt precipitated out, but when the students used tweezers to pick it off from the iron stand, they accidentally dropped it and broke it. What a pity!

However, although this experiment did not verify their ideas, the students still verified that the dissolution and separation of salt in water is a reversible process.
