(1) Rule changes for the comparative form of adjectives\adverbs:

① Generally add -er/est long--longer--longest at the end of the word

② If it ends with e, just add -r/st nice--nicer--nicest

③Double writing-er/est big, fat, hot, red, wet, thin, sad

④ For words ending with "consonant + y", first change y to i and then add -er

⑤For polysyllabic words, add more and most before the original level.

(2) Usage of comparative adjectives:

Structure: A+predicate verb+comparative+than+B (both)
