◆It's hard sometimes to talk about the future.

It is＋ adj. + to do sth. means "to do something is...", it is the formal subject, and the real subject is the following infinitive phrase to do sth..

eg: It is important to get to school on time every day. It is important to get to school on time every day.

◆Maybe you'll be a teacher. Maybe you will become a teacher.

Maybe is an adverb, which means "maybe, probably". It is usually placed at the beginning of a sentence and used as an adverbial in the sentence. Mainly used in informal situations and commonly used in spoken English.

eg: Maybe Mary won't come here tonight. Maybe Mary won't come here tonight.

[Extension] May be is composed of the modal verb may and the verb be. It is used as a predicate in a sentence, meaning "maybe, probably", followed by an adjective, a prepositional phrase or a noun as a predicate.

eg: She may be at home. She may be at home. (=Maybe she is at home.)

◆I hope to be a teacher. I hope to be a teacher.

hope to do sth. means "hope to do something".

eg: I hope to have a good sleep tonight. I hope to have a good sleep tonight.

[Note] There is no such usage as hope sb.to do sth..

◆I would be nice to my students.I wouldn't give them too much homework on weekends! I will treat my students well. I don't give them much homework on the weekends.

(1) Would is the past tense of will and can be used in the past and future tense, but here it is a modal verb. It means "will" or "want" and expresses intention, followed by the original form of the verb.

eg: He would eat nothing. He didn't want to eat.

(2) be nice to sb. Equivalent to be good/kind to sb. It means "be good to someone".

eg: You have been good/ kind/ nice to me. You have been good to me.

◆Grow up means "to grow, to gradually form".

A warm friendship grew up between two men.
