In Chinese, "southeast, northeast, southwest, northwest" are expressed in English as: southeast, northeast, southwest, northwest.

a map of... "a... map", the preposition of expresses the ownership relationship, and the prepositional phrase serves as a postposition attributive, modifying the noun map.
