Personal pronouns are divided into nominative, objective, adjective possessive pronouns, noun possessive pronouns and reflexive pronouns. Reflexive pronouns are also called self-pronouns. 1. Reflexive pronouns cannot be used as subjects, but they can be used as the appositive of the subject and placed after the subject or at the end of the sentence. like:

I went to the cinema myself.

Wrong: Myself went to the cinema.

Positive: I went to the cinema myself.

2. Reflexive pronouns can be used as appositives of objects. like:

I wish I could hear Beethoven himself play this music.

3. Reflexive pronouns can be the objects of prepositions. like:

I mended the bike by myself.

She said to herself: “what’s wrong with my eyes?”

4. Reflexive pronouns serve as objects of verbs. Generally placed after these verbs: enjoy, help, hurt, teach, wash, look after, get, dressed, buy, etc. like:

Did you enjoy yourselves at the weekend?

He teaches himself English at home.
