What a great day! is an exclamation sentence guided by what.

What means "how; true; too" and is used as an attributive to modify a noun.

The sentence structure here is: What+a/an+adjective+countable noun singular form (+subject+predicate)! In spoken language, the subject and predicate can often be omitted.

e.g. What a new watch (it is)!

⑴ The action of wonder here means "want to know; want to understand", which is equivalent to want to know.

⑵I wonder whether...means "I wonder if...", which is equivalent to I wonder if. It is a communicative term for asking for permission, asking the other party whether they allow you to do something.

Whether: "whether"; yes... (or), expresses hesitation or a choice between two possibilities or both situations are true, and can be used with or (not) later. It can introduce subject clauses, predicative clauses, object clauses, concession adverbial clauses, etc. When introducing subject clauses, it can be placed at the beginning of the sentence.

If: "whether", introduces the object clause. Generally not used with or (not). It can also introduce adverbial clauses, meaning "if"
