The present perfect tense is composed of "auxiliary verb have / has + past participle of the verb". The past participle of regular verbs is the same as the past tense. The past participles of irregular verbs need to be memorized one by one.
1. The past tense and past participle have the same changes
Rule changes:
1. Generally, ed is added directly to the end of the verb. like:
pick → picked → picked; wish → wished → wished; stay → stayed → stayed
2. Add d to the end of verbs ending in a silent e. Such as: like → liked → liked; hope → hoped → hoped; phone → phoned → phoned
3. For verbs ending in "consonant + y", change y to i and add -ed. like:
study → studied → studied; hurry → hurried → hurried; reply → replied → replied
4. For stressed closed syllable verbs with only one consonant at the end, double the consonant and add -ed. Such as: stop → stopped → stopped; clap → clapped → clapped
Sentence pattern
1. Affirmative sentence: subject + have / has + past participle (+ other)
2. Negative sentence: subject + have / has + not + past participle (+ other)
3. General questions: have/has + subject + past participle (+ other)
4. Special questions:
