"Understanding Direct Proportion" PPT

Part One: Teaching Objectives

1. Combined with specific examples, go through the process of understanding proportional quantities.

2. Know the meaning of proportionality, be able to judge whether two quantities are in a proportional relationship, and be able to find and communicate examples of proportionality in life.

3. Be curious about things that show proportional relationships in life, and be able to think in an organized manner in the process of judging proportional quantities.

itinerary issues

1. How many kilometers does the car travel in one hour?

8724 − 8814=90 (km)

2. If the speed of the car does not change, complete the table below.

3. Write the corresponding ratio of distance to time and find the ratio. what have you found?

What does this ratio of 90 mean?

(speed)

Understanding Proportional PPT, Part 2: Proportional Relationship

What is the relationship between distance and time when the speed is constant?

▲Distance and time are two related quantities. The distance changes with the change of time. As time expands, the distance will also expand; conversely, as time shrinks, the distance will also shrink. Moreover, when the ratio of distance to time is constant (speed is constant). We say that distance and time are directly proportional to each other.

▲The total price and quantity are two related quantities, and the total price changes with the change of quantity. As the quantity expands, the total price will also increase; conversely, as the quantity decreases, the total price will also decrease. Moreover, when the ratio of total price to quantity is constant (unit price is constant), we say that the total price of pencils is directly proportional to quantity.

As above, two related quantities, one quantity changes, the other quantity also changes. If the ratio of the two corresponding numbers in the two quantities is constant, the two quantities are called directly proportional. quantities, their relationship is called a direct proportional relationship.

▲Direct proportional relationship is the change pattern of two related quantities: expanding at the same time, shrinking at the same time, the ratio remains unchanged.

Understanding proportional PPT, part three: give it a try

Decide whether the two quantities in each question below are directly proportional and explain why.

(1) The flight speed of the airplane remains unchanged, as does the flight distance and time.

(2) The price of apples per kilogram is fixed, the amount of money paid and the quantity of apples purchased.

(3) The monthly income is certain, the amount of money spent every month and the amount of money left.

practice

1. Determine whether the two quantities in each question below are directly proportional and explain why.

(1) The ship travels at a certain speed, the distance and time it travels.

(2) The number of meters of weaving per hour is certain, the total number of meters of weaving and time.

(3) A certain number of pages should be read every day, as well as the total number of pages and time spent reading.

(4) The height of Xiao Ming’s high jump and his height.

(5) The aunt in the kindergarten gives each child 5 pieces of candy, depending on the number of children and the total number of pieces of candy needed.
