Liu Bei settled in Jingzhou with a small army and few generals. Although he relied on Zhuge Liang's tricks to achieve some victories, he still faced disaster.

Sun Quan occupies six counties in Jiangdong and has certain strength, but it is difficult to compete with Cao Cao. There are different internal opinions on whether to fight or surrender. Sun Quan himself was unwilling to surrender to Cao Cao, but he was also worried that Cao Cao's soldiers would be too numerous to resist the enemy, so he was hesitant to wait and see.
