About the Author
Wang Xizhi (303-361), Han nationality, with the courtesy name Yishao and the name Danzhai. He was more than seven feet long (1.83 meters). He was originally from Linyi, Langya (now Shandong), and later moved to Shanyin (now Shaoxing, Zhejiang). General Youjun, internal history of Kuaiji, was a great calligrapher in the Eastern Jin Dynasty and was revered as the "Sage of Calligraphy" by later generations. His son Wang Xianzhi was also good at calligraphy. People called them the "Two Kings". Another son, Wang Ningzhi, was promoted to General of the Left Army. Because he served as General of the Right Army, he was known as "Wang Youjun" and "Wang Kuaiji".
