Ba Jin, whose original name was Li Yaotang and whose courtesy name was Fu (fèi) Gan, was born on November 25, 1904 in Zhengtongshun Street, Chengdu, Sichuan. From the publication of his first article in 1921 to the sequel "In Memory of Zhenduo" in February 1999, Ba Jin created and translated 13 million words of works in his lifetime. His "Torrent Trilogy" ("Home", "Spring" and "Autumn"), "Love Trilogy" ("Fog", "Rain" and "Electricity"), "Cold Night", "Relaxing Garden", "The Fourth Ward", etc. Literary works are monuments of Chinese literature.
Ba Jin was also an outstanding publisher and editor. In the 1930s and 1940s, he served as the editor-in-chief of Shanghai Culture and Life Publishing House for 14 years, cultivating a large number of literary young people. Ba Jin's great contribution to society in his later years was: the five-volume "Random Thoughts"
