Get closer to the author
Li Bai (701-762), also known as Taibai, Qinglian Jushi, and "Exiled Immortal", was a great romantic poet in the Tang Dynasty. He was hailed as the "Poetry Immortal" by later generations. Together with Du Fu, he was also known as "Li Du". ", in order to distinguish them from the other two poets Li Shangyin and Du Mu, known as "Little Li Du", Du Fu and Li Bai are also collectively known as "Big Li Du". He is a cheerful and generous person who loves drinking, writing poetry, and making friends. Li Bai was deeply influenced by Huang Lao Liezhuang's thoughts. The Collection of Li Taibai has been handed down from generation to generation. Most of his poems were written when he was drunk. His representative works include "Looking at Lushan Waterfall", "The Road is Difficult", "The Road to Shu is Difficult", "About Wine" and "Yin of Liang Fu". "Early Departure from Baidi City" and many other songs.
Traveling is difficult PPT, part 2: overall perception
1. What do the first four lines of the poem tell us?
When Li Bai left the capital, his friends held a farewell banquet for him, and the banquet was very luxurious. However, the poet, who is addicted to alcohol, "cannot eat" and "is at a loss" for this fine wine and food. This expresses the poet's extreme anger, depression and injustice.
2. How does the poet feel in the face of fine wine and delicious food? What words can you tell? Why is this happening?
The poet's mood is depressed. It can be seen from the words "stop the cup", "throw chopsticks", "draw the sword" and "look around". Because the poet's heart is full of troubles that are difficult to resolve, he "stops his cup and throws chopsticks", unable to swallow, "draws his sword and looks around", feeling confused.
3. What rhetorical techniques are used in "I want to cross the Yellow River, but the river is blocked by ice, and I am about to climb the Taihang Mountains covered with snow"? What is the expressive effect?
Metaphors are used. The "ice-clogged river" and "snow-covered mountains" are used to describe the difficulty of life and the obstruction of official career, explaining the reason for the poet's melancholy and containing infinite sadness. These two sentences use metaphors to express the embarrassment of being unable to realize lofty ideals due to numerous obstacles.
4. What two allusions are used in "I was fishing in the blue stream in my spare time, and suddenly I was riding a boat and dreaming about the sun"? What emotion does the poet express?
Lu Shang (Jiang Taigong) was fishing in Bixi River, while Yi Yin was dreaming about the sun in a boat. It expresses the poet's reluctance and still has expectations for his political career. It also expresses the poet's complex mood of being both resentful of reality and hopeful for the future.
5. "The journey is difficult, the journey is difficult, and the roads are divergent. Where are you now?" What are the characteristics of these sentences? What is the expressive effect of such a sentence pattern?
When the poet's thoughts returned to reality again, he still felt the difficulty of life. Looking forward to the future, I feel that the road ahead is rugged and there are many wrong roads, so I choose four three-character sentences to repeatedly chant "the journey is difficult", with a short rhythm and a low tone, expressing the poet's lament that his ideals and ambitions cannot be realized.
Difficult to travel PPT, part three: detailed exploration
What is the theme of the poem?
This poem is full of metaphors. The use of ancient Yuefu inscriptions to express emotions originally has the charm of a generous elegiac song. Coupled with the poet's implicit expression and vivid description of his political pursuit, the poetic meaning is even more complicated and confusing. Li Bai rarely had great ambitions, so he named himself Guan Zhong, Yan Ying, etc., and wanted to assist the emperor and achieve great achievements, "making the whole region settled and Hai County unified". The second best thing to do is to be like his fellow countrymen Sima Xiangru and Yang Xiong, who made a blockbuster speech with a poem and an essay and was used by the emperor. He left Shu at the age of twenty-four, "went to the country with a sword, said goodbye to his relatives and traveled far away". He wandered for most of his life. It was not until he was forty-two that he was enshrined in the Imperial Academy. Two years later, he was not allowed to serve in the court and was forced to leave the capital. Considering the poetic meaning, this poem must have been written by Li Bai when he entered Chang'an and had no other way to seek an official position. Therefore, it not only contains words of anger, but also has the ambition of "going through the wind and breaking the waves".
The poem mainly expresses the author's feelings about his unrecognized talent, his heroic spirit in his grief and indignation, and his hope even in his frustration.
Traveling is Difficult PPT, Part 4: Summary
"Traveling is Difficult" is an ancient Yuefu title, often praising the hardships of the world and the plight of poverty and loneliness. Li Bai's poems mainly express the feelings of unrecognized talents. This poem uses ancient Yuefu inscriptions to express the author's anger at not being recognized for his talent and his passion to believe in ideals and the future. It also expresses the poet's optimistic and enterprising attitude towards life and his unremitting pursuit of ideals. I also send Li Bai's "There will be times when the wind breaks through the waves, and I hang my sails directly across the sea" to everyone. I hope you can learn the poet's stubborn, confident, optimistic and enterprising attitude towards life, and you will definitely reach the other side of your ideal.
