Ye Shengtao (1894-1988), formerly known as Ye Shaojun, also known as Shengtao, was a writer, educator and editor from Suzhou, Jiangsu Province. Known as an "excellent language artist", he has made significant contributions to the reform of Chinese teaching and the construction of teaching materials.

His representative works include the novel "Ni Huanzhi", the short story "Collecting Three or Five Dou Too Much", and fairy tales such as "Scarecrow" and "Stone Statues of Ancient Heroes". The works are collected in "Collection of Ye Shengtao".

This article is selected from the 1979 issue 4 of "Encyclopedia Knowledge". Slightly abridged. The original title was "The Humble Administrator's Gardens as a Favorite - Talking about Suzhou Gardens". In early 1979, a Hong Kong publishing house planned to publish a photography book introducing Suzhou gardens, and invited Ye Shengtao to write a preface, and Ye Shengtao happily agreed. Later, the photo album was not published for some reason, and the preface was used by "Encyclopedia Knowledge", titled "The Humble Administrator's Gardens are Deeply Affectionate - Talking about Suzhou Gardens".
