Description
"Listen to the Flute on a Spring Night in Los Angeles" PPT courseware
Part One: Getting closer to the author
[Li Bai] (701-762), also known as Taibai, also known as Qinglian Jushi, also known as "Exiled Immortal". He was a great romantic poet in the Tang Dynasty and was hailed as the "Immortal of Poetry" by later generations. Together with Du Fu, they are called "Li Du". In order to distinguish them from the other two poets Li Shangyin and Du Mu, who are called "Little Li Du", Du Fu and Li Bai are also called "Big Li Du". He is a cheerful and generous person who loves drinking, writing poetry, and making friends.
Li Bai's "Li Taibai Collection" has been handed down from generation to generation, and most of his poems were written when he was drunk.
[Representative works] include "Wang Lushan Waterfall", "Difficult Traveling", "Difficult Road to Shu", "About to Enter the Wine", "Early Departure from Baidi City" and many others.
PPT "Listen to the Flute in Los Angeles on a Spring Night", Part 2: Writing Background
This poem was written by Li Bai when he visited Luocheng (i.e. Luoyang) in the 23rd year of Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty (735). Luoyang was a very prosperous city in the Tang Dynasty and was called the Eastern Capital. At that time, Li Bai was living in Luo City. He was probably in an inn when he accidentally heard the sound of a flute and his love for his hometown was triggered, so he wrote this poem.
PPT on listening to the flute in Luocheng on a spring night, the third part: poetry appreciation
"Whose jade flute makes a dark sound?"
① "Secret" mainly means that the sound of the flute is sent secretly, as if it is specially flown to listen to the guests who are away from home, so as to make them feel sad about separation. The whole sentence expresses an unbearable mood, using subjective words to write objective words.
②In addition, "dark" also has a discontinuous and vague meaning, which is consistent with the situation of the poem.
③ "Whose house" means that I don't know whose house it is, and "whose" corresponds to "dark".
"Spread into the spring breeze and fill Luo City"
"Scattered" means evenly and spread out. The sound of the flute "disperses into the spring breeze" and spreads everywhere with the spring breeze, neither east nor west, neither south nor north. This is the default position of the word "Man" in "Man Luo City"; the word "Man" is derived from the word "San", and the two are closely integrated. At the same time, it describes the tranquility of the city and expresses the poet's homesickness.
"When I hear the willow trees breaking in this nocturne, who can't forget the love of my hometown?"
The ancients broke willows when saying goodbye, and they also broke willows when looking forward to the return of their loved ones. It is said that "Liu" sounds like the sound of "Liu", so the willows are broken to say farewell. Baqiao in Chang'an is a famous place for farewells, or it may refer to the place where all the willows are broken for those who see off.
When the poet heard the song "Breaking Willows", he aroused homesickness among the guests. "Breaking Willow" is the highlight of the whole poem and is also the meaning of the title of "Wearing the Flute". The third and fourth sentences describe the poet's own feelings, but reflect them from others. The emphasis on "this night" is to address all the people who live in Luoyang City, and to prepare for the conclusion of the sentence "Who can't afford the love of hometown". This is a derivation of subjective emotions. It does not say "I", but it shows how deeply "I" feel and how homesick I am.
Listening to the flute in Los Angeles on a spring night PPT, part 4: main theme exploration
This poem expresses the author's homesickness caused by the sound of the flute when he was living in Luoyang in the dead of night. The first two sentences describe the sound of the flute spreading throughout Luoyang City with the spring breeze, and the last two sentences describe the homesickness caused by hearing the flute. The whole poem is tied to the word "smell" to express one's own feelings of listening to the flute. It makes reasonable use of imagination and exaggeration. The emotion is straightforward, sincere and rich, which is endlessly memorable.
