This lesson is adapted from "Historical Records·Biographies of Lian Po and Lin Xiangru".

"Historical Records" was the first biographical general history in Chinese history. It had a great influence on future generations. It was called "the swan song of historians and the unrhymed Li Sao" by Mr. Lu Xun. The author was Sima Qian of the Han Dynasty. It mainly reflects history in the form of biographies of characters, and successfully describes many characters with flesh and blood and distinctive personalities.

About the Author

Sima Qian, courtesy name Zichang, was born in Xiayang. Historian, writer and thinker of the Western Han Dynasty. His representative works include "Historical Records" and "Report on Ren An", among which "Historical Records" is regarded as China's first biographical general history.
