Exploration in the dark

Facing the increasingly declining motherland, many patriots take it as their duty to save the motherland and work hard to explore and find a way to save the country.

How to save our motherland

If you lived in that era, what plan would you propose to save the country? Please write down your ideas and reasons.

Why is our country always bullied?

What would you have done if you had lived in that era?

think about it

Why are they making these claims?

Are the methods they proposed at that time correct?

Why did it fail?

Sun Yat-sen and the Revolution of 1911

Although the Westernization Movement and the Reform Movement of 1898 failed, they promoted the process of social reform and inspired future generations to continuously explore the path of national salvation. Sun Yat-sen was one of them. He advocated the thorough transformation of China through democratic revolution.

In order to overthrow the Qing government and establish a democratic country, Sun Yat-sen established a number of revolutionary groups. On the evening of October 10, 1911, the revolutionary forces led by Sun Yat-sen launched an armed uprising in Wuchang, Hubei Province and achieved victory. Subsequently, in just one month, revolutionary governments were established across the country, and the decadent feudal rule of the Qing Dynasty collapsed.

In December 1911, representatives from the independent provinces met in Nanjing and elected Sun Yat-sen as the interim president of the Republic of China. On New Year's Day 1912, Sun Yat-sen was sworn in in Nanjing, and the Republic of China was officially established. 1911 was the year of the Xinhai Revolution in the lunar calendar, so it was called the "Xinhai Revolution" in history.

May Fourth Patriotic Movement

When the country faced internal and external troubles, a group of young people shouldered the important task of saving the country and averting humiliation. On May 4, 1919, they launched a large-scale and far-reaching patriotic movement.

From these slogans, please tell us what kind of critical moment China was in at that time.

After World War I, the victorious powers held the Paris Peace Conference in France. At the meeting, Chinese representatives proposed to abolish foreign privileges in China, but were unreasonably rejected.

The news spread, arousing strong indignation among the Chinese people. On May 4, 1919, more than 3,000 students from more than a dozen schools, including Peking University, gathered in front of Tiananmen Square and held a demonstration, shouting "Abolition of Twenty-One", "Refuse to Sign the Peace Treaty", "Struggle with Foreign Countries" power, punish national traitors internally" and other slogans. The Beiyang warlord government dispatched a large number of military police to suppress the movement and arrested many students.

Later, workers in various places also went on strike in support of the students, forcing the government to release the arrested students. The Chinese government did not sign the peace treaty. The May 4th Movement inspired young students at that time to be concerned about the future of the country.

After the May 4th Movement, many young people embarked on the road of revolution, hoping to make the country prosperous and strong through revolutionary actions.

The birth of the Communist Party of China

The founding of the Republic of China did not completely change China's old appearance. In order not to be bullied as the birth anniversary of the Communist Party of China and to get rid of poverty and backwardness, many people were still struggling for the future of the motherland when they were in office. In their continuous exploration, they found the way to save the country. The birth of the Communist Party of China completely changed China's destiny.

In July 1921, the First National Congress of the Communist Party of China was held in Shanghai. It marks the founding of the Communist Party of China. From now on, we will regard July 1st every year as the birth anniversary of the Communist Party of China.

The First Congress of China was in progress. Suddenly, spies broke into the venue and the congress had to be adjourned temporarily. Later, the meeting was moved to a cruise ship in Nanhu, Jiaqing, Zhejiang.

Please pay attention to July 1st every year. What did you observe?

historical monument

The Monument to the People's Heroes stands in the center of Tiananmen Square. It commemorates those revolutionary heroes who sacrificed their lives for the motherland and reminds people to remember them from generation to generation.

Jiang Zhuyun (1920-1949), female, Sichuan native, joined the Communist Party of China in 1939. In the autumn of 1947, Jiang Zhujun and her husband went to eastern Sichuan to fight guerrillas. Her husband died heroically in the battle. When Jiang Zhuyun passed by the city gate, she saw her husband's head hanging on the tower by the enemy. She was heartbroken. However, she endured her grief and insisted on continuing to fight. Later, she was arrested for being betrayed by a traitor. In the Zhazidong Concentration Camp of the Sino-US Cooperation Institute in Chongqing, facing severe torture by the Kuomintang reactionaries, Sister Jiang would rather die than surrender. On November 14, 1949, Jiang Zhujun was secretly shot and killed by secret agents at the age of 29.

Her deeds have not only been used as the material of novels, but also been put on the stage and screen. She is deeply rooted in the hearts of the people as the image of Communist Party member Sister Jiang.

Do you know the deeds of these heroes? What else do you know? Tell your classmates what you know.

Fang Zhimin wore shackles and headed towards the end of his life, but he left us an immortal chapter. Look at the emotion he uses to express his deep love for the motherland.

It is precisely because of the many outstanding Communists and revolutionary ancestors who shed their lives and blood, who succeeded us one after another and were not afraid of sacrifice, that we have an independent New China and we have our wonderful today. Let us remember them.
