Activity 1: Journey to the Egyptian Pyramids
A total of 96 pyramids have been discovered in Egypt, the largest of which are the three pyramids in Giza, a suburb of Cairo. The pyramid is a tomb built by the ancient Egyptian king for himself. The Great Pyramid is the tomb of Khufu, the second king of the Fourth Dynasty. It was built around 2690 BC. It was originally 146.5 meters high. Due to weathering over time, the top peeled off 10 meters, and it is now 136.5 meters high. Each side of the base is more than 230 meters long. The slope of the triangular plane is 51 degrees, and the bottom area of the tower is 52,900 square meters. The tower body is made of 2.3 million stones, with each stone weighing an average of 2.5 tons. It is said that it took 100,000 people 20 years to build.
The second pyramid is the tomb of King Habra, the son of Khufu. It was built in 2650 BC. It is 3 meters lower than the former, but its architectural form is more perfect and spectacular. There are temples and other ancillary buildings and the famous Sphinx in front of the tower. Face image.
The third pyramid belongs to King Menkaure, the grandson of Khufu, and was built around 2600 BC. It was the period of decline of the Fourth Dynasty, and the construction of the pyramids also began to decline. The height of the Menkaure Pyramid suddenly dropped to 66 meters, and the internal structure was chaotic.
