A summary is a concise restatement of the essential ideas of a longer article. It requires that the main idea of ​​the original article be restated in as few words as possible. A synopsis is not simply a paraphrase, much less a review, but an accurate representation of the most basic parts of the author's thoughts.

[Scoring criteria]

The "Examination Instructions" stipulates that the outline writing will be scored according to 5 levels. The scoring standards for the fifth level (21-25 points), the highest level, are: 1. [Writing Method]

1. Positioning - Find core information

Locate the core information of the text through reading, including core words, core phrases and core sentences. (Sentences mainly, supplemented by words and phrases)

2. Rewrite – rewrite the message in your own words

Rewrite the language expression form on the basis of the core information, and achieve as large-scale changes as possible to the language expression form of the original text. During the rewriting process, in principle, the number of words should not exceed the original sentence, the logical structure of the original text should not be changed, and sentence compression should be fully considered.

3. Check - add related words and check the coherence of the sentence

Check the sentences for coherence. Check punctuation, grammar, connectives and word count, and give priority to using shorter connectives, such as but, then, later, etc.

How to write summary writing?

1. Characteristics of question type

The number of words in reading materials for summary writing is generally about 300. Writing requires candidates to write a summary of about 60 words based on its content after reading the original text. The sentences used in the summary must be accurately worded, reasonably structured, and semantically coherent, and must not be copied from the original text. They must also be able to completely summarize the central idea of ​​the article.

2. Precautions

1. The number of words should be limited to about 60 words, and the upper and lower parts should not exceed 10 words.

2. Write a summary according to the genre characteristics of the article.

3. The person and tense should be consistent with those in the given article, but it can be changed to the third person when necessary.

4. Use compound sentences as much as possible when writing, and change parts of speech when necessary. Do not copy the original text completely.
