About the Author
Peng Duanshu (about 1699-about 1779), whose courtesy name was Lezhai and whose name was Yiyi, was from Danling, Sichuan. He was a famous litterateur in Sichuan during the Qing Dynasty. Together with Li Tiaoyuan and Zhang Wentao, he was known as the three talented men in Sichuan during the Qing Dynasty. Peng Duanshu was smart and talented since she was a child, and she was able to write at the age of ten. He, his younger brothers Peng Zhaozhu and Peng Zunzhuang swam at the foot of Ziyun Mountain and "became teachers and friends", and they studied hard as classmates for six years. His later achievements were not due to innate talent, but mainly to his acquired hard work and diligent study. He was a Jinshi in the Yongzheng period and served as a doctor in the Ministry of Civil Affairs and a co-examiner in the Shuntian Township Examination. The Second Monk of Shu PPT, Part Six: Writing Method
