About the author
Zeng Gong (1019-1083), courtesy name Zigu, was born in Nanfeng (now Nanfeng County, Jiangxi Province) in the Northern Song Dynasty. Zeng Gong was smart and studious. He was able to write articles and commentaries at the age of twelve, and was highly regarded by Ouyang Xiu. In the second year of Jia dynasty, he was promoted to civil servants and served as officials in local and imperial courts. He was also a famous essayist in the Northern Song Dynasty and ranked among the eight great essayists of the Tang and Song Dynasties.
Wang Xizhi is one of the greatest calligraphy artists in China, and is praised by later generations as the best in the world. His calligraphy lines are like flowing clouds and flowing water, and his fonts are elegant and unrestrained. The predecessors commented on his writing style as "floating like floating clouds, as powerful as a frightening dragon", and the world called him the "Sage of Calligraphy".
About Mochi
Ink pond, a pool for washing pens and inkstones when writing. The ink pond mentioned in the article is located in Linchuan, Jiangxi Province. According to legend, it is the remains of the ink pond where Wang Xizhi, the great calligrapher of the Jin Dynasty, learned calligraphy.
