"Two Tang Poems" PPT

Part One Contents: Song of Thatched Cottage Broken by the Autumn Wind

writing background

In the middle of the Tang Dynasty, the "Anshi Rebellion" broke out, which led to social unrest and people's livelihood. In 759, Du Fu's family moved to Chengdu, Sichuan. With the help of friends, they built a thatched hut on the bank of Huanhua River. They temporarily had a place to stay, but their life was still poor. One autumn two years later, a storm blew away the thatch on Du Fu's hut, causing the family to spend a sleepless night in the cold rain. Du Fu was deeply moved by this situation, so he wrote a poem to express his feelings.

Genre introduction

"Singing Style"

Songxing is a type of ancient poetry. There are many Yuefu poems from the Han and Wei dynasties under the title of "Ge" or "Xing". Although the two have different names, there is actually no strict distinction between them. Later, there was the integration of "singing and walking". Its syllables and rhythm are generally relatively free and full of changes.

Read the pronunciation of the following underlined words accurately:

Angry whistle hanging long forest tip shelter

Obtrusive Quilt Triple Mao Shen Tang Au

Appreciation of the first section

1. Which word does the author use to describe the autumn wind?

2. Why use "howling" instead of "violent" or "ferocious"?

"Howling" shows how strong the wind is, how violent and ruthless it is. At the same time, it uses anthropomorphic techniques.

3. Compared with "volume" and "blow", which word is better to describe the fierceness of the wind?

The word "volume" is good. It is both vivid and powerful.

4. What other verbs follow? What are the benefits of its usage?

There are also verbs such as "fly" - "sprinkle" - "hang" - "float" - "sink". It depicts a dynamic scene of flying thatch.

5. Please add a subtitle to this paragraph.

Autumn wind curly grass

Appreciation of Section 2

1. You can still repair the thatched house by picking up the thatch that fell on the ground. But he was carried away by a group of urchins, and the poet became anxious. He said: "The boys in Nancun bullied me because I am old and weak." However, Du Fu was only 49 years old when he wrote this poem. Why did he use the word "old"? Is it used incorrectly?

The poet suffered a lot from the war, and he was prematurely old and mentally and physically haggard.

2. Why do the children hug the grass?

He was also a hard-working boy. He built a house with thatch or took it home to use as firewood. Maybe he was naughty. Maybe there are deeper reasons - for example: social reality. Du Fu is not so much angry with the children as he is angry with the society. The turbulent society causes people's poverty and disaster.

3. "When I return and rely on myself, I sigh." What is he sighing about?

Sighing that his life was miserable, the hut was blown apart by the wind. How will you spend the next days?

Second, I lamented the suffering of the people around me, and there were many poor people like myself;

Three laments about the suffering caused by the war to the people.

4. Add a subtitle to this paragraph.

Two Tang Poems PPT, the second part contains: The Charcoal Seller

This poem is the 32nd of the fifty poems in Bai Juyi's "New Yuefu", written in the fourth year of Yuanhe (809). The self-note under the title: "The palace city is also suffering" explains the main theme of the poem: first, it refers to the people suffering from the palace market's swindling and plundering; second, it refers to the eunuchs' evil deeds, which ruined the name of the palace market and ruined the reputation of the royal family. The poet not only complained about the people's livelihood, but also worried about the emperor.

Bai Juyi (772--846), whose courtesy name was Letian and who called himself Xiangshan Jushi, was another outstanding realist poet in the Tang Dynasty after Du Fu. He was the poet with the most works in the Tang Dynasty. He advocated that "articles are written according to the time, and poems are written according to the event." He advocated the "New Yuefu Movement". His poems, with easy-to-understand language, are called "old women can understand". "The Charcoal Seller" is a narrative allegorical poem.
