Mayor Chen Yi

Chinese proletarian revolutionist, strategist, politician, one of the founders and leaders of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, and Marshal of the People's Republic of China. Born on August 26, 1901 in Lezhi County, Sichuan Province. The courtesy name is Zhonghong. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, he continued to serve as the commander of the East China Military Region and the Third Field Army. In 1954, he was appointed Vice Premier of the State Council, Vice Chairman of the People's Revolutionary Military Commission and Vice Chairman of the National Defense Commission of the Central People's Government. In 1955, he was awarded the military rank of Marshal of the People's Republic of China and the first-class Bayi Medal, the first-class Independence and Freedom Medal, and the first-class Liberation Medal. Since February 1958, he has also served as Minister of Foreign Affairs. In January 1966, he was appointed Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission of the Communist Party of China. During the Cultural Revolution, he fought resolutely against the Lin Biao and Jiang Qing counter-revolutionary groups and was severely persecuted. He is a member of the Political Bureau of the 8th CPC Central Committee and a member of the 7th and 9th CPC Central Committees. Since 1959, he has served as vice chairman of the third and fourth National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. Died in Beijing on January 6, 1972. Chen Yi had both civil and military talents and was erudite and talented. He has a variety of military and political treatises and poetry works, which are compiled into "Chen Yi's Selected Military Writings", "Chen Yi's Selected Poems" and "Chen Yi's Poetry Draft".
