NetherRealm's 2011 reboot of "Mortal Kombat" was initially a console exclusive. A few years later, it landed on Steam in the form of "Mortal Kombat: Komplete Edition", which included the God of War Kratos and DLC with Freddy (A Nightmare on Elm Street movie) as a playable character. This is the ninth game in the series. It has been removed from Steam without any explanation.
Some fans speculate that this may be because the Freddy rights were transferred from Warner (the publisher of Mortal Kombat) to Wes Craven (the writer and director of "A Nightmare on Elm Street"). Foreign media believe that there are many reasons why a game is removed from Steam, and the expiration of music copyrights will also affect the game.
This isn't the first time a "Mortal Kombat" game has been suddenly removed from Steam. After Microsoft announced the discontinuation of the Games For Windows Live service, the game "Mortal Kombat: Arcade Collection" that relied on the service was also removed from the shelves in 2015.
