Returns the decimal value of the time represented by a text string.
The decimal value is a value between 0 and 0.999999999, representing the period from 0:00:00 (12:00:00 AM) to 23:59:59 (11:59:59 PM) time.
Syntax
TIMEVALUE(time_text)
Time_text text string representing time in WPStable time format.
For example, quoted text strings representing times 6:45 PM and 18:45 .
Description
• Date information in time_text will be ignored.
• WPSThe time value in the table is part of the date value and is represented by a decimal number.
For example, 12:00 PM can be expressed as 0.5 because it is half of the day.
In our daily work , it is often necessary to calculate time, such as calculating an employee's overtime time based on punch-in records.
But in Excel, time cannot be calculated directly. At this time, we can use the TIMEVALUE function to first convert the time into a numerical value, and then calculate.
What you need to pay attention to when using this function is: set the time data cells to text format before entering.
Right-click-Format Cells-TextCopy, and then enter the time data .

￭ Select cell C2, click Insert Function, find the TIMEVALUE function, and click OK.
A dialog box will pop up with only one parameter.
The time string is the time to be converted into numerical format
Select B2 to fill in, click OK, and the time will be converted into numerical format.
￭ We need to calculate overtime, that is, the actual punch-in time minus the off-duty time.
Enter - A2 after the formula and press Enter to get the time subtraction result.
Next, right-click-Set cell format-Time-Select time display format, you can see that the time is displayed as overtime time 2:30 separated.
Position the cursor to the lower right corner of cell B2, and pull down to fill the cell in the shape of + to complete calculations in batches.
