Use the DELTA function to determine whether two values are equal

Tests whether two values are equal. If number1=number2, returns 1; otherwise, returns 0. You can use this function to filter a set of values.

For example, the number of equal pairs can be calculated by summing several DELTA functions. This function is also called the Kronecker Delta function.

Grammar

DELTA(number1, [number2])

DELTA function syntax has the following parameters:

Number1 Required. The first number.

Number2 Optional. The second number. If omitted, Number2 value is assumed to be zero.

Description

If number1 is nonnumeric, DELTA returns the #VALUE! error value.

If number2 is nonnumeric, DELTA returns the #VALUE! error value.
