Returns a serial number that represents a specific date. If the cell format is General before entering the function, the result will be formatted as a date.
Grammar
DATE(year,month,day)
• Year parameter year can be one to four digits.
1. If year is between 0 (zero) and 1899 (inclusive), the WPS table will add 1900 to the value and then calculate the year.
For example: DATE(108,1,2) will return January 2, 2008 (1900+108).
2. If year is between 1900 and 9999 (inclusive), the WPS table will use this value as the year.
Example: DATE(2008,1,2) will return January 2, 2008.
3. If year is less than 0 or greater than or equal to 10000, the WPS table will return the error value #NUM!.
• Month represents the number of the month of the year. If the entered month is greater than 12, the number will be calculated from January of the specified year upwards.
Example: DATE(2008,14,2) returns the serial number representing February 2, 2009.
• Day represents the day of the month. If day is greater than the maximum number of days in the month, it will be accumulated from the first day of the specified month upwards.
For example, DATE(2008,1,35) returns the sequence number representing February 4, 2008.
When we want to convert the dates in the table into a specific format, we will use the DATE function, which can help us generate symbols for specific dates.
