China News Service, August 11. According to ABC reports, a 24-year-old woman is wanted by the police for the recent shooting of a 10-year-old boy in Virginia, USA.
According to reports, on the 9th local time, Tashawnda Nicole Drayton, a 24-year-old African-American woman, and three other suspects were arrested on Artis Street in Franklin, Virginia. A "violent argument" broke out between a 37-year-old man and a 10-year-old boy at a residence. Drayton was accused of shooting both men.
It is said that a relative took the boy to another residence to await rescue, where emergency personnel found the boy and rushed him to the hospital. The boy later died. The other man who was shot was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for treatment and has since been released.
Police said later on the 9th that Drayton, who was "armed and dangerous", now faces charges of first-degree murder, aggravated malicious wounding and other charges.
Franklin Police Chief Steve Patterson wrote in a statement posted on social media platforms: "While any loss of life is undeserved, seeing a child as young as 10 years old become... It is truly unacceptable to be a victim of a violent crime, and we as a community need to come together and work together to put an end to this farce."
