"National Language Resource Service Platform" officially launched

On December 27, the 7th Language Services Advanced Forum opened. The forum, with the theme of "Language Services and Digital China", was co-organized by Beijing, Guangzhou and Wuhan. Responsible comrades from the Language and Character Information Management Department of the Ministry of Education, the Language and Character Application Research Institute of the Ministry of Education, the Open University of China, Central China Normal University, Guangzhou University and other units attended the forum and delivered speeches.

At the opening ceremony, the “National Language Resource Service Platform” (fw.ywky.edu.cn) was officially launched online. The platform is based on the State Language Commission's Language Resource Network, which was launched in 2017. It aims to create a website that gathers the most language resources in China and a demonstration platform for national language service capacity building.

It was introduced at the event that the "National Language Resource Service Platform" aims to serve the digitalization of education, analyzes the urgent language needs in education and teaching, scientific research, cultural inheritance, and social applications, and solves the complex copyright, serious fragmentation, and poor serviceability of language resources. It aims to build language resource services that meet the needs of the country, society and people.

The "National Language Resource Service Platform" brings together nearly 100 language resources provided by nearly 50 units, and builds nearly 20 language services focusing on social needs and practical applications. The platform is constructed under the guidance of the Language Information Management Department of the Ministry of Education. Guangzhou University’s “National Language Services and Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Language Research Center” is responsible for resource service construction, and Central China Normal University’s “National Language Resources Monitoring and Research Network Media Center” provides technical support. , the Open University of China is responsible for website operation and maintenance, and the National Language Commission research base, university research institutes and enterprises participate in the joint construction of the platform to build a safe, stable and sustainable operation and maintenance model.

"Report on the Situation of Language Life in China (2022)" is compiled by the National Language and Writing Working Committee and is one of the Green Paper Series on Language Life. It mainly introduces major events, hot issues and real-state data in my country's language life in 2021. The report was edited by Guo Xi, a professor at the School of Chinese Language and Literature at Jinan University, and edited by the Chinese Language Resources Development and Application Center of the Commercial Press.

"China Language Policy Research Report (2022)" is a blue book on language life that introduces the domestic language policy research situation in 2021, including a review of hot topics, excerpts of arguments, academic trends, special studies, appendices, etc. A review of hot topics includes achievements and experiences in language and writing over the past century since the founding of the Party, language policies in universities, subjects, mechanisms and strategies for the inheritance of overseas Chinese, etc. The excerpt of the arguments introduces important new observations, new thinking, and new opinions on domestic language policy research in 2021. The content involves the development strategy of language and writing, the construction of language and writing standards, scientific protection of language resources, language services, etc.

"Report on the Situation of World Language Life (2022)" is organized and compiled by the China Foreign Language Strategic Research Center of the State Language Commission. It is a research report by Chinese scholars to observe and analyze world language life. The observation period of this book is 2020-2021, with a total of 48 articles. The first part, "Policy", focuses on clearly released policy measures. Each report revolves around a core policy text; the second part, "Dynamics", focuses on presenting new trends and developments in language life, paying special attention to those Contents that show changes and inspire the future; the third part, "Special Topics," focuses on the language policies and language work of international organizations; the fourth part, "Reports," includes annual reports of important language communication institutions, as well as several important periodic reports. Special reports; the fifth part, "Vocabulary", focuses on the annual language word reports of South Korea, Japan, Poland and other countries; the sixth part, "Appendix", provides readers with Chinese media articles on world language life and major events in foreign language life.

It is reported that this year’s forum is hosted by Guangzhou University, the Institute of Language and Character Applications of the Ministry of Education, Central China Normal University, the Commercial Press, and China Education Television. The National Language Service, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Language Research Center (Guangzhou University), and the National Language Resources Organized by the Monitoring and Research Network Media Center (Central China Normal University), the Chinese Language Resource Development and Application Center (Commercial Press), the Secretariat of Scientific Research Institutions of the State Language Commission, and the School of Humanities of Guangzhou University.
