The original English website of the Palace Museum has been fully upgraded to a multi-lingual website of the Palace Museum. Relying on the professional translation capabilities of the Translation Institute of China International Publishing Group, the website covers five languages: English, French, Russian, Japanese and Spanish, and will meet the needs of audiences in different languages.
At the same time, the Palace Museum’s digital platform for ancient characters has also been officially launched. The first batch of high-definition image resources of more than 300 oracle bones and their rubbings from the collections of Ma Heng and Xie Boshen will be released.

Since its launch in 2015, the original English website of the Forbidden City has received visits from users in more than 200 countries and regions. In order to provide more convenient online services to overseas audiences, meet the needs of overseas audiences in different languages to understand Chinese culture, and promote the excellent traditional Chinese culture to the world, the Palace Museum will start the construction of a multilingual website in 2022.
The multi-lingual website currently has four main columns: visit, explore, collections, and information, including visit services, information inquiries, panoramic tours, online exhibitions, collection appreciation, and Forbidden City information. The reporter found that functions such as visiting the Forbidden City online, admiring cultural relics online, and viewing exhibitions online, which are widely praised by the audience on the Chinese website of the Palace Museum, can also be seen on the multi-lingual website.
It is understood that multilingual websites do not simply translate the same content into different languages, but carry out targeted content planning according to the needs of different languages.
