It is understood that more than 35,000 hectares of green land, 116,000 hectares of forest land, and 465,000 hectares of wetland have constructed Shanghai's basic ecological space and formed an ecological environment pattern of "rings, wedges, corridors, gardens, and forests". Birds are one of the indicator species of a city's ecological environment. According to statistics, there are 476 species of wild birds in Shanghai.

Among them, magpies, cygnets, Sinian crows, herring gulls, great knots, hooded cranes, egrets, pearl-necked turtledoves, bald bulbuls, and barn swallows were also selected as "My Favorite Birds in Shanghai".

There are also many birds in the community where the reporter lives. On a magnolia tree under the balcony, a pair of pearl-necked turtledoves have settled down for many years. I often see pearl-necked turtledoves with a pearl necklace around their necks, looking for food on the grass in the community together, as if they are old neighbors in the community.

Shanghai is located in the south of the Yangtze River, with many rivers. The riverside green space is a good place for the surrounding residents to exercise and relax, and it is also a good place to shoot birds.

Three or two egrets, standing on one leg, are waiting to catch fish by the river. Their patience seems to last as long as those who fish by the river.

One spring, the reporter also photographed the concentrated habitat of egrets in a college near the community. The scene of hundreds of egrets living together to raise their offspring is spectacular.

Jian Jia is pale and dew is frost

The word "Band" in Shanghai is not a false name. Located in the alluvial plain of the Yangtze River Delta, bordering the river and the sea on three sides, the wetland ecosystem of reed beaches and reed ponds is a major feature of Shanghai.

This group of photos was taken at the famous Chongming Dongtan Wetland in Shanghai, which was in the early winter season. In the reeds surrounded by winding water, flocks of wintering migratory birds sometimes look for food leisurely, and sometimes the birds fly happily, composing a wonderful natural movement.

However, what is little known is that in order to restore this reed marsh and protect the biodiversity of the wetland, Shanghai has waged a "struggle" for more than ten years and cost hundreds of millions of dollars with the invasive alien plant Spartina alterniflora.

In Shanghai, except for a small Sheshan Mountain, nature has not given any natural endowment for afforestation. However, in today's Shanghai, the forest coverage rate has reached 16.2%, and even in the bustling urban area, the forest coverage rate exceeds 10%.

Relying on unremitting artificial afforestation, Shanghai has not only built a basic urban forest framework with coastal shelter forests, channel forests, water conservation forests, pollution prevention isolation forests and large ecological forests as the main body, but also built 5 national forest parks.
