Ren Zheng (1916-1999), courtesy name Lanzhai, was born in Huangyan, Zhejiang. During his lifetime, he was a librarian of the Shanghai Research Institute of Literature and History, a member of the Chinese Calligraphers Association, an executive director of the Shanghai Calligraphers Association, an art consultant of the Shanghai International Studies University, and an art consultant of the International Cultural Exchange School of Fudan University. Published and published works include "Basic Dot Painting Methods of Regular Script", "Guide to Official Calligraphy", "Selected Notes of Quatrains of the Tang Dynasty", "Lan Zhai Tang Poetry and Song Ci Calligraphy" and more than ten kinds. He writes more than 7,000 characters in cursive script, which are used by newspapers such as "People's Daily", "Shenzhen Special Zone News", "Wenhui Daily", "Xinmin Evening News" and other newspapers; in 1981, he wrote the inscription for the Huaihai Battle Monument, which was carved into the stone; and he has written for the National Post and Telecommunications Bureau. Ren Zheng once wrote an inscription for the Huaihai Campaign Monument and an inscription for the Zhou Enlai Memorial Hall. In 1977, the Shanghai Type Mold Factory invited many well-known calligraphers in Shanghai to write Xingkai characters that represented their own styles. Ren Zhengxingkai was selected by the factory. It took him two years to complete nearly 7,000 regular script templates for common printing characters. This set of Ren Zheng Xing Kai character models is widely used by newspapers, periodicals and books across the country, and has also entered the computer Chinese character regular script library as a "standard writing model".
