Tayol’s farewell letter to his children and wife
Speaking of Hudson Taylor, almost no one among Christians knows it. But when it comes to Tayur, few people know about it. Like Hudson Taylor, he was one of the thousands of missionaries who sacrificed their lives to knock on the door of the gospel in China. His other identity is that of Hudson Taylor's father-in-law.
Tayol left many contributions to China. The most important influence was to bring the modern Western movable type printing technology back to China. After Tayol's death, his wife Tan Mali followed her husband's last wish and stayed in China to engage in women's education. His two daughters also followed in their parents' footsteps, entered China, and married missionaries. Among them, the fifth generation of descendants of Mary and Taylor are still standing in the gospel position.
The fifth episode of "Speaking by Faith" will present the letter home written by Tayol to his wife and children before his death. It was read lovingly by Rev. Dai Jizong, the fifth generation grandson of Hudson Taylor, and interpreted by Professor Lin Zhiping, an expert on the history of missions, and Chen Yiping, the author of "Even to Death—The Biography of Tayol".
