In this issue, we will introduce three text functions——RIGHT, LEFT, MIDFunctions.
RIGHTThe function counts the number of characters from right to left to intercept characters.
￭ For example, to intercept the last 4 digits of a mobile phone number, enter =RIGHT().
The string is filled in the data area of the mobile phone number, and the number of characters is filled in 4.
This formula means to intercept the last 4 characters of this data area. Pull down the fill handle to copy the formula and the batch extraction is completed.
LEFTThe function counts the number of characters from left to right to intercept characters.
￭ For example, to extract the first three characters of address information, enter =LEFT().
The string is filled in the data area, and the number of characters is filled in 3. Pull down the fill handle to copy the formula and you're done.
MIDThe function can intercept any number of characters starting from a certain digit in the middle.
￭ For example, extract the date of birth from the ID card information.
Starting from the 7th digit, intercept the following 8 digits.
Input=MID(), fill in the data area with the string, fill in 7 in the starting position, and fill in the number of characters 8. Extraction completed!
These three text functions can meet most of our data extraction needs, take note of them!
