Returns the depreciation value of an asset for any specified period, including partial periods, using the double-declining-balance method or other specified method.
Function VDB stands for Variable Declining Balance.
Grammar
VDB(cost,salvage,life,start_period,end_period,factor,no_switch)
cost is the original value of the asset.
salvage is the value of the asset at the end of the depreciation period (also known as the asset salvage value).
life is the depreciation period (sometimes also called the asset's useful life).
start_period is the starting period for depreciation calculation. Start_period must be in the same unit as life.
end_period is the end period for depreciation calculation. End_period must be in the same unit as life.
factor is the balance declining rate (depreciation factor). If the parameter factor is omitted, the function assumes factor is 2 (double declining balance method).
If you do not want to use the double declining balance method, you can change the value of the parameter factor.
no_switch is a logical value that specifies whether to switch to the straight-line depreciation method when the depreciation value is greater than the declining balance calculation value.
• If no_switch is TRUE, even if the depreciation value is greater than the declining balance calculation value, WPSTable Nor switch to straight-line depreciation.
• If no_switch is FALSE or ignored, and the depreciation value is greater than the declining balance calculation value, WPSTable Will switch to linear depreciation method.
Note that all parameters except no_switch must be positive numbers.
