There is no very complete summary of open source Chinese fonts on the Internet, because I am collecting them myself, so I will record them here. If you have good open source free fonts, it would be best to share them.
1. Wenquanyi
Licensing Agreement: GPL Wenquanyi is a free font online collaborative community led by FangQ, committed to providing the community with high-quality free fonts and advanced font development methods.
Wenquanyi is an open source Chinese character font project, founded in October 2004 by Fang Qianqian (FangQ), a scholar in the United States, focusing on solving the shortage of high-quality Chinese fonts on GNU/Linux. At present, Wenquanyi has developed and released the first multi-standard dot matrix Chinese character library that completely covers GB18030 Chinese characters (including more than 27,000 Chinese characters), and the first open source vector font library that covers GBK character set (Wenquanyi Zhenghei) , and provides most of the symbols related to Chinese, Japanese and Korean in the open source font that currently contains the largest number of characters - GNU Unifont. These fonts have gradually become the preferred Chinese fonts for Chinese desktops of mainstream Linux/Unix distributions. Currently, Ubuntu, Fedora, Slackware, Magic Linux, and CDLinux use Wenquanyi as the default Chinese font. Debian, Gentoo, Mandriva, ArchLinux, and Frugalware provide official source support, while FreeBSD provides it in its ports. Wenquanyi's website (except the forum) is built with Wiki.
2. Founder Free Font
Free Fonts: Four fonts are included: Founder HeiTi, Founder Book Song, Founder Fang Song, and Founder KaiTi. This use is free for "commercial distribution". Commercial distribution is permitted, as long as no conversion, adaptation, or distribution is performed. Authorization is required. 3.Droid Sans Fallback
Licensing agreement: Apache 2.0Google entrusts Ascender to design system fonts for its mobile phone Android. Droid fonts provide double-byte text support for Simplified, Traditional Chinese, Japanese and Korean, covering GB2312, Big-5, JIS-0208 And the KSC-5601 character set, using simplified Chinese writing habits, including more than 16,000 CJK standard Chinese characters. Due to the special technology, the size of the font file is only 3.04MB. Wenquanyi micron black is expanded on its basis.
4. Wang Hanzong free font
Licensing agreement GPL Professor Wang Hanzong of the Mathematics Department of Chung Yuan University in Taiwan, who developed the Tiancan font library, first donated ten sets of WCL series fonts and 32 sets of new fonts after 2000 and 2004, including several sets of simplified fonts. In 2004, there was a copyright dispute with Arphic, the future is unknown, and it is not recommended to use.
5. Siyuan Blackbody
Source Han Sans (English: Source Han Sans) is an open source font family developed by Adobe and Google. Versions 1.001 and earlier are licensed under the Apache 2.0 license, while versions 1.002 and later are licensed under the SIL open source font. . Siyuan HeiTi was first released on July 16, 2014. It supports Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Japanese and Korean, and each has 7 font weights. At the time of publication, it was the font with the largest number of characters at that time, with 44,666 characters belonging to 65,535 glyphs, which is the limit of OpenType font technology.
6. Arphic Open Font Licensing Agreement
The earliest high-quality open-source Chinese fonts on APLLinux, Arph Technology provided 4 sets of publicly authorized fonts for free in 2001 for general public use. The 4 sets of fonts authorized by the public are: Wending Fine Shanghai Song, Wending Zhongkai, Wending Brief Song, and Wending Jian Zhongkai. These 4 sets of publicly licensed fonts are well received in the free software community and widely circulated and used.
7. Willow body
Licensing agreement GPL The GB2312 font developed by huangjiahua is suitable for artistic fonts.
8.cwTeX Chinese font license agreement
GPL is a set of traditional TrueType fonts converted from cwTeX Chinese Type 1 fonts, and integrates Alexej Kryukov's CM-LGC fonts and Koanughi Un's Korean fonts. Among them, cwTeX Mingti is one of the few Kangxi writing fonts in Taiwan.
9. Seto font
The font is a free font made by Seto, and the font includes traditional Chinese characters and multi-language.
10. Ye Genyou font is free for personal non-commercial use
Licensing agreement GPL Yegenyou fonts are free for personal non-commercial use. If it is for personal or corporate use, you need to go to the official website of Yegenyou fonts to purchase related authorizations. The purchase fee is not expensive. A font is several hundred yuan. And it is used for life, there is no category limit.
11. Shutifang Free Fonts
Free fonts provided by Shutifang, which focuses on the development of computer fonts by ancient and modern calligraphers.
12. Station cool high-end black
The "Hundred Dance of Chinese Characters" project was initiated by font designers Hu Xiaobo and Liu Bingke, and recruited 100 font designers from Zaku.com to create a set of fonts for free permanent download.
