However, this also shows that this work has impressed foreigners with the flow of strokes and lines. Zhang Xu, courtesy name Bogao and Ji Ming, was born in Suzhou in the first year of Chuigong (685). He came from a prominent family, and his cursive script was taught by Lu Yanyuan, Lu Jianzhi and others, and he went after the "two kings", Suo Jing, and Zhang Zhi.
Zhang Xu is the second calligrapher after Zhang Zhi to be awarded the "Sage of Grass". , Later generations Wu Daozi, Yan Zhenqing, Huai Su, Huang Tingjian, Zhao Mengfu, etc. were all influenced by him. Li Bai's poetry, Pei Min's sword dance, and Zhang Xu's cursive script are collectively known as the "Three Wonders of the Tang Dynasty".
Going back to this calligraphy "Body Pain Post", it is the "medical record" of Zhang Xu's self-diagnosis when he was unwell, and the creation time is no longer available. The full text consists of 6 lines and 30 characters. It was engraved on the stone in the third year of Jiayou's reign (1058) in the Northern Song Dynasty. Since then, it has been displayed in the Xi'an Forest of Steles Museum. The interpretation is: "Sudden abdominal pain is unbearable. I don't know whether it is caused by cold or hot. If you want to take rhubarb soup, both hot and cold are beneficial. What to do is not clinical."
"Stomach Pain Post" has obvious rhythm changes. When he first wrote the pen, he was relatively calm and calm, and the size of the handwriting was moderate, and then he became more and more wild, and the handwriting became bigger and bigger. People can't help but imagine whether his stomach hurts more and more. . Although there are few characters in this work, the changes in brushwork are very rich.
First of all, the starting brush can be used to hide and reveal, and the running brush can be used in the middle, side, and square. Take the character "Suddenly" as an example, starting with a square pen, and then use a round pen to deal with the turning point. The combination of squares and circles seems to be unintentional, but it is actually well-thought-out.
"Tummy Pain Tie" is mainly based on the internal strokes, as can be seen from the closing strokes of characters such as "kan", "da" and "huang". And the processing of "folding hairpin stock" and "cone painting sand" can be found everywhere, such as "tang", "he" and "wei". The connotation of this post is extremely strange, with continuous lifting and pressing, twisting and turning, it can be said to be done in one go.
The ups and downs of the composition contain many changes. For example, "sudden stomach pain" is one rhythm, and "unbearable" is another rhythm; All in all, the whole article is full of changes, and the strokes are lawful, and it has entered the realm of perfection.
In just over thirty characters, people can see the bold and unrestrained spirit, unpredictable brushwork and thrilling charm. It is worthy of being a masterpiece of "Grass Saint" and a national first-class cultural relic.
